Observatory for the Occitanie Regional Tourism Committee

Dashboards created for the Regional Committee of Occitanie with the objective of:

• Exploring the introduction of the environmental dimension quantitatively into the tools for managing tourist activities,
• Understanding the regional dynamics, points of interest, and their relationship with the environment,
• Studying the impact of political decisions on the environmental condition of tourist areas.

A study is conducted on the Occitan territory. Two main themes are explored, namely:

• A comparative study of air quality and tourist frequentation,
• The monitoring of artificialization and vegetalization of the territory to detect newly artificialized or newly vegetated areas

This study enables the Occitanie Regional Tourism Committee (CRT Occitanie) to have concrete quantitative measurements on the interaction between tourism and the environment in their territory. The evaluation of social, economic, and environmental impacts then allows for the design and implementation of policies and strategies aimed at maximizing the positive contribution of tourism and minimizing its negative effects
