The competition attracted more than 2,000 entrants from 120 countries worldwide. The most submissions were from Europe, the Americas and Africa, followed by Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East. From these, an expert jury selected 30 finalists and then 15 winners.

The company Murmuration, based in Toulouse, analyzes satellite images of the Earth to understand the effects of tourism on our ecosystem. It provides local authorities with information on biodiversity, air quality, and soil quality, depending on tourist visits.

The young Toulouse start-up Murmuration designs a dashboard using Earth observation data, allowing local authorities to rethink their tourism policy in light of climate change. This tool has won an award from the World Tourism Organization.

Based in Toulouse for more than three years, the start-up Murmuration is developing a map to indicate the maximum number of tourists that a natural site can accommodate, without having a negative impact on the environment.
