In front of space industry players gathered at the Cité de l'Espace on November 6, 2023, the Club Galaxie awarded five young companies and innovative projects. The company Murmuration was particularly honored by receiving the Galaxie Award. The startup uses spatial data to monitor tourist pressure.

The Toulouse-based start-up Murmuration, which uses satellite data for sustainable tourism, has been accumulating awards and distinctions this year. It aims to ride the wave to accelerate its development by raising 1 million euros within 6 to 9 months.

The 2023 Galaxie Award, worth €10,000, went to Cathy Sahuc and Tarek Habib, co-founders of Murmuration, a Toulouse-based start-up that develops a decision-making tool for the tourism sector. Thanks to satellite Earth observation data and artificial intelligence, Murmuration produces information on tourist pressure and the state of the environment at any point on the globe.

The 15th edition of the Galaxie Award, organized on November 6 at the Cité de l'espace by the Club Galaxie, rewarded the start-up Murmuration.

Endowed with €10,000, it was awarded to the company Murmuration, a Toulouse-based start-up represented by Cathy Sahuc and Tarek Habib, whose platform uses global satellite Earth observation data enhanced by artificial intelligence to provide information on tourist pressure and the state of the environment.

Two of the first fifteen national winners of the government program France Tourisme Tech announced are from Haute-Garonne: Ctoutvert and Murmuration.

Murmuration introduces the environmental dimension at the heart of tourism activity, in both management and forecasting. Thanks to indicators on air, water, biodiversity, soil, and climate, Murmuration provides territories with tools to measure the impact of tourism on the environment and the impact of climate change on tourism activity. Murmuration was chosen for its cutting-edge technology for managing flows and the environment.

The competition attracted more than 2,000 entrants from 120 countries worldwide. The most submissions were from Europe, the Americas and Africa, followed by Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East. From these, an expert jury selected 30 finalists and then 15 winners.

The Minister of State for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Crafts and Tourism, Olivia Grégoire, has revealed the names of the 15 companies selected for the France Tourisme Tech programme, part of the Destination France plan.
